The Founding Story

The inception of Expedock traces back to a serendipitous meeting in the classrooms of Stanford University. Co-founders King Alandy Dy (CEO) and Rui Aguiar (CTO) began their journey in a Computer Science class as seatmates, where a simple act of assistance by Rui resulted in the two becoming close friends, and co-founders later on.

Joining the founding team is Jeff Tan and Jig Young, both long-time friends of King from high school. Jeff, a supply chain expert who dropped out of college to immerse himself in the operational intricacies of freight forwarding, joined the team as a Chief Operating Officer (COO), providing his invaluable experience of having managed the movement of thousands of containers internationally at CNT Worldwide Transport. Jig, a product expert, joined as Chief Product Officer (CPO), bringing along his wealth of product strategy and growth expertise from his time at Kalibrr (a Y Combinator startup) and First Circle, a fintech supply chain factoring startup.

What led them to focus on this industry? For King, the journey started when he was just 16, learning the ropes from the ground-up while running his family’s international import-export business that spanned across Southeast Asia, China, and The Philippines. The challenges he faced became the impetus for change, and with a background in AI research at Stanford University, King knew their team possessed the unique prowess to solve the industry's deep-seated problems.
